Conferences
Want more feedback on your work? Go to a conference. Not only does it look great on your CV, you also have the chance to get diverse and valuable feedback on your papers, practice your presentation skills, and network with people of similar interests.
A list of conferences and important dates is provided below. Note that this is a non-exhaustive list of general-interest conferences for professionals in our discipline. There are also conferences which are topic/field specific and not listed here.
Submission deadlines can range from 6-10 months in advance of the conference date. Also be aware that submission requirements can range from a short abstract (e.g., 250 words) to an entire paper (e.g., 25 pages). Conferences will generally send out a "call for papers" well in advance of the submission deadline with instructions on how to submit. Check specific conference websites for more details.

*Special note about AEA: This meeting is held with the Allied Social Science Association (ASSA) Annual meeting. There are MANY economics associations that have sessions at the ASSA, each with different submission deadlines and requirements. In general, coming from an Agricultural Economics department, your best bet for acceptance might be to the AAEA sessions at ASSA. However, keep in mind that your particular work might fit in better at a different association’s sessions; submitting to the most related association will increase your chances of being accepted. Some associations only accept submissions for an entire session (3-4 papers from different presenters), graduate students CAN organize/submit sessions but you’ll want to include professors/students from other universities.
