The THC had a chance to catch up with Lionel Richie for a phone interview during his recent tour of the Gaza Strip.
Lionel Richie: Hello.
THC: Hello. May I speak to Lionel Richie?
LR: Is it me you’re looking for?
THC: Umm, well, if you are, in fact, Lionel Richie, then I guess the answer would be yes. I’m calling to interview you about your upcoming appearance at the THC BBQ on September 8. We’re all very excited about your decision to come. Can you start by telling me how you found out about the THC?
LR: I’ve been alone with you inside my mind.
THC: Oh, okay. And what motivated you to agree to play this year’s BBQ?
LR: You’re all I’ve ever wanted.
THC: Really? That’s great. Everyone back here in Madison will be delighted to hear that. Do you have any expectations about the September performance?
LR: In my dreams I’ve kissed your lips a thousand times.
THC: Wow. Well, do you have any questions for us before the concert?
LR: I wonder where you are.
THC: That’s an easy one. We’re in Madison, Wisconsin, and the BBQ will be at Rennebohm Park, at 115 N. Eau Claire, Ave. Anything else?
LR: I wonder what you do.
THC: Well, there will be delicious food, and beer, and lots of great folks from the department. Also, we’ll have whiffle ball. And someone usually brings a Frisbee or a soccer ball or something, too. We could throw around a football if you’d like…
LR: My arms are open wide.
THC: Great. Any other questions?
LR: Are you somewhere feeling lonely?
THC: Actually, I’ve got lots of friends here at the THC, but thanks for asking. Now, Mr. Richie, would you mind if I asked you about your health. There are rumors that you were seen leaving a cardiologist’s office yesterday. How is everything?
LR: Sometimes I feel my heart will overflow.
THC: Ouch. That sounds painful. Mr. Richie, you’re a global icon, and remain incredibly popular, especially in the Middle East. Can you explain your success?
LR: I haven’t got a clue…
THC: That’s understandable.
LR: ...But let me start by saying---
THC: Well, that’s all the time we have for the interview. We look forward to seeing you in September.
