Library Policy

The purpose of the Taylor‑Hibbard Library is to serve the needs of the faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics. The library seeks to maintain and develop a specialized collection with emphasis on particular areas in accordance with the priorities and research interests of Department members. The main focus of the collection is on agricultural & applied economics, cooperatives, agribusiness, development economics and natural resource economics.  The Taylor-Hibbard Library includes among its holdings the Torgerson Cooperatives Collection which is the complete collection of the University of Wisconsin Center for Cooperatives.

The collection of the Taylor-Hibbard Library is unique in its interdisciplinary nature, containing materials that are avaiblable at other UW-Madison libraries in one location for the convenience of AAE department memebers. Non‑Agricultural & Applied Economics Department patrons may be directed to other locations through the UW‑Madison, General Library System for use of such materials and for reference assistance.

Circulation of materials is limited to faculty, staff and graduate students affiliated with the Department of Agricultural & Applied Economics. Circulation privileges are also granted to faculty members of the Department of Rural Sociology. Library materials may be used by others at the discretion of the Librarian.  Library materials should not leave Taylor Hall.
