Install WiscVPN for Mac(TechDoc #3176)
This document provides WiscVPN installation instructions specific to Macintosh OS X. (taken from the UW HelpDesk)
To install the VPN client perform the following:
- Email Eric Dieckman (ewdieckman@wisc.edu) your UW-Madison NetID (the username for accessing MyUW).
- Wait for an email for the DoIT VPN Administrator [vpn@doit.wisc.edu]
- Point a web browser to the Campus Network Services VPN Page http://www.doit.wisc.edu/network/vpn/
- In the "Installation Directions and Downloads" table, locate Mac OS X. Click Download.
- Click on WiscVPN_4.6_Mac_OS_X.sit to download the client installer. Many browsers will automatically download and expand .sit files. If your browser does not do this, you will be prompted to select a location to save the file. Once the download is finished, double-click the file to expand it.
- The file WiscVPN_4.6_Mac_OS_X.sit expands to create a file called WiscVPN_4.6_Mac_OS_X.dmg.
Normally, this disk image will mount automatically after being extracted from the .sit file.
If you do not see a CiscoVPNClient disk icon on your desktop, please double-click the .dmg file.
- A window opens displaying the WiscVPN client installer files.
- Double-click Cisco VPN Client.mpkg to start the client installer.
- Click Continue on the Welcome screen to start the installation process.
- Read through the Software License Agreement screen and click Continue. Click Agree to accept the license and install the client.
- In the Select a Destination screen, the installer will show you the available drives where you can install the software. Click on the drive you want to use and click Continue.
- Click Install or Upgrade to continue installation.
- Enter your password and click Ok.
- The installer shows you its progress as it installs the client.
- Once the software is successfully installed, click Close.
The WiscVPN client is now installed. See the following document to connect: WiscVPN - Connecting through VPN.
