Please note: You can only connect via VPN on Windows XP or 2000 computers. If you have Windows 2000, you must install the
Windows 2000 High Encryption Pack before you proceed.
- If you have already installed AAEvpn, you can skip to Step #17.
- Contact Eric Dieckman (ewdieckman@wisc.edu) to authorize your account for VPN use.
- Open the Control Panel (either Start-->Settings-->Control Panel OR Start-->Control Panel)
- Open Network and Dial-Up Connections
- Double-click Add New Connection or Create New Connection
- Click Next
- Select Connect to the network at my workplace.
- Click Next
- Select Virtual Private Network connection
- Company Name: AAEvpn
- Click Next
- Hostname: vpn.aae.wisc.edu
- Click Next
- You can select either option on the next page.
- Click Next
- Click Finish

- To use, you can create a shortcut for AAEvpn to your desktop.
- Use your AAE username/password NOT YOUR UW-MADISON NETID/PASSWORD
- Right-click on My Computer.
- Click Map Network Drive
- Select an appropriate drive letter.
- Uncheck Reconnect at logon
- Folder:
- AAE Files: \\sagola.aae.wisc.edu\<sharename> (do not use "<" or ">")
- PATS Files \\pats1.aae.wisc.edu\<sharename> (do not use "<" or ">")
- Click Finish
