Please note: You can only connect via VPN on Windows XP or 2000 computers. If you have Windows 2000, you must install the Windows 2000 High Encryption Pack before you proceed.

1. If you have already installed AAEvpn, you can skip to Step #17.
2. Contact Eric Dieckman (ewdieckman@wisc.edu) to authorize your account for VPN use.
3. Open the Control Panel (either Start-->Settings-->Control Panel OR Start-->Control Panel)
4. Open Network and Dial-Up Connections
5. Double-click Add New Connection or Create New Connection
6. Click Next
7. Select Connect to the network at my workplace.
8. Click Next
9. Select Virtual Private Network connection
10. Company Name: AAEvpn
11. Click Next
12. Hostname: vpn.aae.wisc.edu
13. Click Next
14. You can select either option on the next page.
15. Click Next
16. Click Finish
    
    
    
    
17. To use, you can create a shortcut for AAEvpn to your desktop.
18. Use your AAE username/password NOT YOUR UW-MADISON NETID/PASSWORD
19. Right-click on My Computer.
20. Click Map Network Drive
21. Select an appropriate drive letter.
22. Uncheck Reconnect at logon
23. Folder:
    1. AAE Files: \\sagola.aae.wisc.edu\<sharename> (do not use "<" or ">")
    2. PATS Files \\pats1.aae.wisc.edu\<sharename> (do not use "<" or ">")
24. Click Finish
